This artwork is one of a pair that has been inspired by the novel "Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens.
The works explore solitude not as absence but as a form of attentiveness - a way of listening to the land that holds memory, shelters resilience and resists haste. Here the marsh is not a backdrop but an active presence, shaping what can remain and what must pass.
Layers of paint are allowed to settle, seep and fall, echoing processes of erosion, growth and return.
What the Marsh Allows considers permission rather than control - what is permitted to surface. to stay, or to disappear.
Stretched canvas 40 x 40 x 3.8 cm in white wooden float frame
